I cooked a roast last night in the crock pot. I let it do its thing overnight. I was going to put it in the fridge while i was at work today but Michelle convinced me that it would be fine to just leave it out on the counter. Is that OK? Are you supposed to do that? I keep imagining bacteria carrying crock pot monsters crawling all over it and leaving deposits everywhere. If you don't hear from me for a few days... they got me.

Uh-oh...nobody answered this. Does this mean you went hungry last night?
Yay, Crock-Pot Cookery! Leave it on for days, it just gets richer...
As long as it is stewing in its own juices, everything should be fine.
The moment it STOPS stewing in its own juices, however, infection risks kick in.
The solution: After the roast is nicely brown add an onion, peeled and sliced lengthwise, once.
And about a bottle of Jim Beam for preservation's sake.
Jim Beam and onions are nature's disinfectants.

oh phew! Thanks guys! I'm feeling pretty good today..
I'm hoping you meant that you LEFT IT ON while it sat out (please say yes). You don't want it to cool. Next time put it in the fridge and reheat in your regular oven at 300 degrees for 45 minutes.
Thanks Jen! So far michelle and i are still alive!
